About

A commercial minor repairs permit is required for repairs that involve the replacement and/or repair of existing structural members and other building elements.

After Approval

Permit must be kept on site until final approval is granted.

Conditions & Exceptions

This permit applies to work that does not require a plan review provided the materials match or are equivalent to the materials being repaired or replaced.

Apply in Person

Apply in person at 1002 Washington Avenue, Houston, TX 77002

  1. Obtain a ticket from any of the four kiosks located by the entrance. by selecting the options: (a) Permits (b) Building Construction Permits (c) Project Number/Single Trade Permit
  2. Proceed to the One Stop Plan Review Section located on the third floor.
  3. A Plan Analyst will review the Commercial Minor Repairs Spec List to ensure repairs are for replacing like-for-like building elements and compliance with applicable codes.
  4. Once approved, the Plan Analyst or a Customer Service Representative will create a sales order.
  5. Proceed to the cashiers’ booth on the first floor to pay the sales order and receive your permit.
  6. If the project involves plumbing, electrical, or HVAC work, each licensed contractor must purchase a separate permit for that portion.

May require approval by any or all of the following groups based on scope or other conditions: Structural, Planning, Utilities, Stormwater, Traffic, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Infrastructure, Forestry, Sprinklers, Fire Marshall, Health, Engineering, Flood Plain

What You Need

Permit and Commercial Minor Repair Spec List must be on-site for inspection. If corrections are required, call 832-394-8840 for a reinspection.
